If you’re using an older Nano, PodFreq is great… highly recommended! by Zino Davidoff
Didn’t have very high expectations, but the little guy has game. It broadcasts cleanly in our house from one end to the other and is received cleanly by an old Tivoli PAL radio.
It works great in our X3 and has acceptable fidelity, if not quite as good as a CD or a hardwired iPod would. Still, it’s every bit as listenable as a strong FM station, no hiss or static. No issues.
Plus it’s got both firewire and USB plugs for charging. Not sure if these work for updating from our iBook, but it’s a well thought-out device.
It also allows frequency adjustments much finer than most of these kinds of gadgets. So it’s easy to find an open spot on the dial. Having said that, we don’t have much trouble, in our area anyway, with radio stations interfering while driving around.
It seems well made, fairly sturdy, and cradles/protects the iPod from top to bottom. It includes a carrying cloth pouch, car-lighter plug and cord for recharging, as well as a USB cord for connecting to a computer. There’s even a clear-plastic mount for attaching to the dash of your car, if you’re such a kind of person that would drill holes in your dash.
It seems that the Podfreq has a stronger signal than most of the competing FM adapters. I just rest it inside the storage bin in the center console… it’s strong enough that even with the lid CLOSED the signal is received clearly! Out of sight is best!
I recommend this thing. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re using an older Nano. Remember, the new ones won’t fit.

I bought a Nano and this item for my wife. Unfortunately, this item is for the old Nanos, not the 3G Nano. Too bad they don’t state this in the writeup.
